Famed for American-styled comfort food at affordable prices, Meatliquor, the popular, edgy, cool London-based burger joint, is here at Duxton Hill in Singapore!
Sambal Wings ($15)
Monkey fingers ($18, chicken fillets in housemade hot pepper sauce with blue cheese dip)
Chilli cheese fries ($18)
Sambal fries ($10)
Onion rings ($9)
We had several cocktails, including a classic negroni and an innovative oolong floater ($22, mango and oolong soda, Pampero rum, fresh lemon, Angostura bitters, mint sprig, lemon sorbet). Both were potent, fun, and tasty.
Besides burgers, Meatliquor serves several Asian-inspired bites. The sambal wings ($15) slathered in housemade sauce tasted like a cross between kimchi and a sweet-spicy Thai sauce. I’ve a predilection for jalapenos on the chilli cheese fries ($18).
Dead hippie ($22)
But the piece de resistance is indubitably their burgers. The dead hippie ($22) was freaking gorgeous. Extremely greasy yet greasy in a way that made you want to eat more and more. Mr Fitness and I wrestled for the last bite. I won. YES.
At first bite, the Buffalo chicken burger ($20, above) was just okay. But the more I ate, the more addictive it got. They use chicken breast (I think), which was still tender, and it was crispy, sourish, and piquant. Would go damn well with beer.
The burgers, the cocktails, the decor – Meatliquor is gonna to be a game-changer in Singapore.

Wow I never saw this coming! MeatLiquor is known as a good place for a burger in the UK, but is quite grungy inside, with lots of loud music which puts people off sometimes. I wonder how it will go down in SG?

it is still grungy here. but the music was fine when we were there. I like it quite a bit, I’m hoping nobody goes there so I can visit often without queuing.

And also, S$22 for a burger? That’s £11, which is the going rate in London for a gourmet burger, but I don’t know if SG is used to such prices.

Yup, good burgers in Singapore are about that price. The cocktails are priced similarly to other cocktail bars too.

What else do they have on their menu? Is it the same as the ones in UK? Also, was this an invited tasting for bloggers and press?

For the items, the menu states UK and SIN in parentheses. I assume it means some items are similar as UK’s, some are created for Singapore. Uniquely Singapore. Haha.
Yes, it is an invited tasting.

how does the burger compare to those at Potato Head (which I find overpriced)?

It’s been too long since I last went to Potato Head and I can’t remember the taste. But this burger is definitely bigger. The $22 burger has 2 patties.
