\nThe moment we stepped into 21 on Rajah, we went wow. The decor<\/strong> made an impression, it was very bright, with white and azure, reminding us of Santorini and other seaside towns around Mediterranean where all houses are white and azure. Although 21 on Rajah is a Mediterranean<\/strong> restaurant, serving dinners at good value ($48+ for two!), it transforms into a brunch place on Sundays (12-3pm)<\/strong>. Perhaps it was the cheery decor with sunlight streaming that influenced people’s mood. Ms Atas observed that the customers looked so happy here.<\/p>\n

\nAnother positive aspect is this is a family<\/strong> place: we saw many families who brought their grandparents and young children. Every Sunday, the restaurant cordons a section and turns it into a children playground and an arts and craft corner. So you can just leave your children there. Hotel personnel will organize games. That Sunday, we witnessed the hotel personnel playing Snakes & Ladders with the children, using their own bodies as pawns and throwing a huge air-blown dice. So cute.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_3145\"The food<\/strong> was ok, not particularly stunning but won’t disappoint either. In general, the food was a tad light, so you can add salt yourself. There were two live stations<\/strong>: cooking eggs<\/strong> and pasta <\/strong>(behind the buffet counter) upon ordering. There was an antipasti<\/strong> corner (more Italian than Mediterranean), with burrata cheese<\/strong>, parma ham with melon<\/strong>, and, my favorite, roasted eggplants with olive oil<\/strong>. The cold cuts corner<\/strong> consisted of very good beef carpaccio<\/strong>, smoked salmon<\/strong>, prawns<\/strong>, etc. The hot food corner<\/strong> was most extensive with roast lamb<\/strong> (slightly overcooked), seafood lasagna <\/strong>(a bit mushy for me), seafood mix<\/strong>, cod fish in creamy lemon sauce<\/strong> (my favorite), chicken in tomato sauce<\/strong> (Ms Atas’s favorite), etc. For desserts, there were lemon meringue tarts<\/strong>, custard puffs<\/strong>, fruit cakes, chocolate eclairs <\/strong>(my favorite), and so on. We thought the desserts needed some improvements.<\/p>\n

Another good part of the buffet is that it comes with free flow of sangria<\/strong> (alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions). Add another $20 for free flow of sparkling wine.<\/p>\n

I would recommend it to families living nearby for a family lunch but if you live in Jurong, then it’s too far to travel here. It was crowded when we were there, reservations highly encouraged<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
