Continuing our series, “Is it worth queuing?” This time, we queued at the famous 85\u5df4\u5239.<\/p>\n

Affectionately known as\u00a085\u5df4\u5239 to local Chinese, instead of its actual name, Fengshan Food Centre (\u51e4\u5c71\u4e2d\u5fc3, Blk 85 Bedok North Road, Singapore 460085), this hawker centre houses many award-winning stalls. There are three\u00a0things I like about it: (1) the boisterous atmosphere, so festive and local; (2) it opens till late night<\/strong>, a great place for supper; and (3) no queues! Or rather, queuing done in an old-school way. You place an order, giving them your table number, and they deliver it to you. Most hawkers don’t practice this anymore.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Chai Chee Pork Porridge \u83dc\u5e02\u732a\u8089\u7ca5<\/strong><\/h1>\n

\nOrdered a porridge with everything in it–what can I say? I’m an equal opportunity eater. The portion was\u00a0smaller than other places’.\u00a0The porridge was bland and wasn’t smooth. Only the minced pork was tasty; other ingredients, even the century egg, weren’t. Go for the minced pork porridge if you have to.<\/p>\n

\nIs it worth waiting? Not a long waiting time, but I won’t wait if I am starving.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

2. Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian\u00a0\u5174\u8bb0\u8089\u811e\u9762<\/strong>
\n<\/em><\/h1>\n

\nThere are two award-winning bak chor mee stalls side by side, the other being\u00a0Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee<\/strong>. 14K, who used to live in Bedok, claimed\u00a0Xing Ji is better. Xing Ji only sells bak chor mee soup, not dry. The soup was very lardy, hence very tasty. But my friend complained that the noodles had “an alkaline taste.” Tiny portion. What? Bedokites are small eaters?<\/p>\n

Waiting Time 50 mins
\nIs it worth waiting? No, it was delicious but not <\/em>that delicious to warrant waiting for almost an hour. \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Chan B.B.Q.<\/strong><\/h1>\n

\"Chan
\nThe\u00a0sambal<\/em>\u00a0was\u00a0shiok<\/em>\u00a0and spicy but not fragrant or sweet enough. One piece was slightly undercooked, and the other overcooked and dry. And where was the cincalok<\/em>?<\/p>\n

\nIs it worth waiting? Maybe. 10 mins wasn’t a long wait, and the service was swift and friendly.<\/em><\/p>\n
