\nThis year, I’m crabs’ nemesis, eating crabs after crabs. 7th Mile Seafood’s crab beehoon<\/strong> (market price) was\u00a0neither wet nor dry: it was\u00a0moist, and a bit too nuah<\/em> for me. The beehoon was\u00a0stir-fried with butter and crab, so there were\u00a0bits of crab shell. The crab itself was\u00a0lightly steamed, a\u00a0natural taste, refreshing.<\/p>\n

\nWhat I liked about the cze char<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0was that there were\u00a0both heavy-handed and light dishes on the menu, so if you pick correctly, you can have a good balance.<\/p>\n

\nFor example, the\u00a0har cheong\u00a0gai<\/em><\/strong> (prawn-paste chicken $8\/$12\/$16) and 7th Mile pork ribs<\/strong> ($16\/$24\/$30) were marinated throughly. The ribs had burnt ends, but might be too salty.<\/p>\n

\nThe light dishes included steamed garlic prawns<\/strong> ($18\/$25\/$32) and\u00a0steamed garlic sotong<\/strong> (below, $18\/$25). In both dishes, the garlic didn’t come across strongly, so you can still kiss your partner after the meal. Like the crab, the prawns\u00a0<\/strong>were steamed in its own flavor, drizzled in a (tasted-like) diluted teriyaki sauce. The\u00a0sotong<\/strong>\u00a0in butter and fish sauce had a nice bite.<\/p>\n

\nOne dish I’d advise not to order is\u00a0heh zhou.\u00a0<\/strong>Came as gigantic balls, but didn’t taste like\u00a0heh zhou.<\/em><\/p>\n

7th Mile possessed a style\u00a0different\u00a0from other\u00a0cze char <\/em>stalls: it tended to let seafood speak for themselves, without much flavoring. But the danger it ran was the seafood might be\u00a0too subtle, light, and even bland for some. The price could be reduced.\u00a0If you prefer something light, perhaps this\u00a0cze char<\/em>\u00a0may suit you.<\/p>\n
