\nOldest surviving vegetarian restaurant since 1953, Zen Fut Sai Kai’s retro decor <\/strong>must have been retained through the years. But the incense smoke choked me for a few minutes until I got used to it. According to Hungry Angmo<\/a>, the menu hasn’t changed since the first time he visited, “but the price has increased,” quipped Sg Food on Foot<\/a>. The original price on the menu was struck out and a higher price listed.<\/span><\/p>\n

But it was still very affordable, about $44 for 3 of us<\/strong>. (Thanks for the treat, Hungry Angmo.) And all the food was extremely tasty.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Zen
\nThe must orders<\/strong> were fried wantons<\/strong> ($7 \u9526\u5364\u4e91\u541e), very flavorful mushroom in wonton skin in a sweet thick dip; and fried beancurd balls and kailan<\/strong> ($9 \u82a5\u5170\u8150\u7403, below). Dunno how they did it but it was umami with a feeling of bliss. <\/span><\/p>\n

\nIt was the first time I had sugarcane flower from sam kum sugarcane flower soup<\/strong> ($7 \u4ec0\u9526\u75b3\u82b1\u6c64), which texture was like fish maw. The soup was refreshing and almost fruity. <\/span><\/p>\n

This was an awesome meal and one of the best vegetarian food I ate before. Good value too. Support!<\/span><\/p>\n
