\"theDeep within Dover Road, the meta-named restaurant, The Restaurant at Singapore Poly Graduates Guild, is open to public. Chef Bob Ko<\/strong> with 25 years of experience comes up with the menu. There are some special creations that I have not eaten elsewhere before, and while the food isn’t outstanding, it is easy and won’t break your bank.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"theWe ordered enough for a small army, and our unanimous favorite was\u00a0stir-fried four season vegetables \u56db\u5927\u5929\u738b\u65f6\u852c<\/strong> ($8.50). The string beans, four anchor beans, lady fingers, and eggplant were stir-fried with garlic, hae bee<\/em>, and bean crumbs, in such a refreshing manner that I, carnivore, approved of this dish. This dish had a kampong<\/em> feel that\u00a0reminded me of Malaysia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheThe other dishes were okay\u00a0too.\u00a0Crispy brinjal with spicy chicken floss \u9e21\u8089\u677e\u8304\u5b50<\/strong> ($6.80) was crispy enough in a tasty batter. Golden-fried chicken roll with salted egg \u91d1\u7687\u54b8\u86cb\u9e21\u8089\u5377<\/strong> ($10.50) sounded awesome on paper, but tasted as it was described, nothing more, nothing less.\u00a0Three egg boxthorn with prawn meat & egg flower \u4e09\u86cb\u867e\u8089\u7fb9<\/strong> ($10.90) was a soup, not a vegetable dish, and wasn’t bad. Only the braised red glutinous rice wine chicken claypot \u74e6\u9505\u7ea2\u7cdf\u9e21<\/strong> ($10.50) was disappointing: diluted with bony chicken.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheWe argued\u00a0among ourselves before asking the chef: was the steamed red snapper \u51ac\u708e\u84b8\u7ea2\u9c7c<\/strong> ($25.80) in tom yam or assam sauce? Answer:\u00a0a cross of\u00a0both, so it was sourish, spicy, and everything that assam and tom yam had. Quite a reasonable price, and quite a fun(ny) dish.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheIf you come alone, there are also one-meal dishes, like the lackluster\u00a0nasi goreng Istimewa \u9a6c\u6765\u7092\u996d<\/strong> ($12).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheHaving tasted several desserts, all my three friends\u00a0said they would skip\u00a0the desserts, but I liked the red bean pancake \u7ea2\u8c46\u6c99\u997c<\/strong> ($11) because it had flaky skin.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wouldn’t rush down to The Restaurant if I live in Changi, but if you live at Dover, Bueno Vista, and Clementi, it would make an inexpensive option for family or friends gathering. Bonus: The building houses\u00a0a gym and pool. You can’t use the facilities, but you can watch, if you know what I mean. ;)
