Visited a few cafes and ice cream parlors lately. I ranked them from my least favorite to my favorite:<\/p>\n

#5. Stateland Cafe <\/strong>Kampong Glam

\"statelandSpecialty<\/strong>: The red velvet waffles<\/strong>\u00a0was awful. The waffles was bitter, and the cream cheese sour.
\nPrice<\/strong>: $14.90 for waffles and a scoop of ice cream.
\nPros<\/strong>: Excellent service. Very pretty place. Has other savory food.
\nCons<\/strong>: Expensive. Noisy: the room traps all the sounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specialty<\/strong>: Two square waffles, not oblong, and you can add filling in between. My friend’s\u00a0red velvet waffles with cream cheese<\/strong>\u00a0was better than my\u00a0charcoal waffles with lemon curd<\/strong>\u00a0topped with earl gray ice cream<\/strong>. Not bad, but not memorable.
\nPrice<\/strong>: About $11 for waffles and a scoop.
\nPros<\/strong>: NA.
\nCons<\/strong>: Very noisy from the music blaring and the crowd. Dark, and uncomfortable. Prison-like\u00a0decor. Hard to find parking. The tagline, “Be there or be square,” doesn’t really work, because an oblong is not a square. This place gave me a headache.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nPrice<\/strong>: About $11 for waffles and two scoops.
\nPros<\/strong>: Near parking. Decorated cutely.
\nCons<\/strong>: Way too crowded for only decent ice cream. Guess location is good.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/a><\/span>\"butterSpecialty<\/strong>: It’s a bakery. And the sea-salt caramel red velvet cake <\/strong>($7.90)\u00a0was delicious\u00a0but a little dry and tiny for the price. No waffles here, but banana nutella<\/strong>\u00a0pancakes with earl gray ice cream<\/strong>\u00a0(about $12-13) had an interesting combination of sweet, and bitter. The catered ice cream had a strong\u00a0sweet-bitterness of tea, very awesome. Pity about the lousy, dry pancakes. The nutella tart<\/strong>\u00a0at the display looked appealing.

\"rabbitSpecialty<\/strong>: The waffles was perfect, crispy and well-balanced. The black sesame<\/b>,\u00a0durian<\/strong>, and\u00a0earl gray\u00a0<\/strong>ice creams were decent too. Classic flavors, nothing fanciful, and too conservative for me. Serves a very delightful, catered sea-salt chocolate tart\u00a0<\/strong>($5.50).
\nPrice<\/strong>: $13.50 for waffles and 2 scoops.
\nPros:\u00a0<\/strong>Central area. Good price.
\nCons:<\/strong> Terrible chairs, hard to sit.<\/span><\/p>\n
