\"boufeFood<\/strong>:
\n(a) Brunch menu<\/strong> from 10am-3pm. 6 items only. Standard caf\u00e9 fare, nothing interesting, but they executed the dishes well.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"boufeWe were stupid to get two similar items, croque madame<\/strong> ($19) and eggs benedict<\/strong> ($16): both came with homemade bread<\/strong>, eggs and ham. The hollandaise sauce for eggs ben was balanced, not too tart, not too bland. So was the cheese for croque madame, piquant, not sharp.<\/span>
\n<\/p>\n

\"boufeBarista Aloysius Lee recommended the smoked salmon freshly baked croissant<\/strong> ($19). Other items: Big breakfast<\/strong> ($21), French toast <\/strong>($14), truffle baguette <\/strong>($17).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"boufe(b) Dinner menu<\/strong> 6-9pm. 6 items. Fish & chips<\/strong> ($18), pastas<\/strong> ($18-$22), beef stew<\/strong> ($26), duck confit<\/strong> ($22).<\/span><\/p>\n

Coffee<\/strong>: From 3 beans, Brazilian, Javanese, and Ethiopian. $4-$6.50. Smooth, not bitter at all, with a hint of chocolate. One of the better coffees<\/strong> I had in Singapore, comparable to Jewel<\/a> and Common Man<\/a>.<\/strong> I don\u2019t believe in single origin beans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Desserts<\/strong>: All breads, cakes, tarts, macarons are baked inhouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Skip the strawberry shortcake<\/strong> ($8), the only thing I didn\u2019t like at Boufe: not moist nor light enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Macarons<\/strong> ($3.30) were ok.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lemon tart <\/strong>($5.50) was very good, very tart, and almost as good as Carpenter and Cook\u2019s<\/a>. It lost out to C&C because I noticed this caf\u00e9 aims for a middle ground, so the tart wasn\u2019t as extreme as C&C\u2019s, and hence, didn\u2019t have as much personality.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"boufeService<\/strong>: When I asked the server what the coffee was, he went to ask the barista who came to have a passionate chat with me on coffee.<\/span><\/p>\n

But in general, the caf\u00e9 employs servers who are school kids and quite blur (but polite). Need some training. William said, \u201cStop asking the poor waiter questions. He\u2019s just a kid. He looks frightened of you. Don\u2019t traumatize him.\u201d Hey, what doesn\u2019t kill you makes you stronger.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the boss saw us waiting for the food for some time, went to hurry the kitchen, and sent us complimentary macarons. The boss rocks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"boufePros<\/strong>
\n-Food was rather balanced and delicious, and would please majority of people.
\n-Great location<\/strong> (if you drive). Nestled among greens within Phoenix Park where Spruce<\/a> is, a leisurely feel.
\n-Awesome d\u00e9cor<\/strong>. Sunlight bathed the whitewashed caf\u00e9 of marbled tables and white tiled walls. Clean lines, chic and elegant.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cons<\/strong>:
\n-Limited dishes. Standard caf\u00e9 fare without surprises or highlights.
\n-So hipster it makes me want to do something violent. Boufe = a portmanteau of \u201cboutique\u201d and \u201ccaf\u00e9.\u201d Should be pronounced as \u201cbu-fay\u201d as in \u201cbuffet\u201d?<\/span><\/p>\n

\"boufeVerdict<\/strong>: Obviously, the owners know what they are doing: good food and coffee, priced similarly to other cafes, great d\u00e9cor and ambience.If there is a song to describe Boufe, it\u2019s Lionel Ritchie\u2019s \u201cEasy like Sunday Morning.\u201d This is one of the better new cafes I’ve been to lately. It\u00a0will get wildly popular. We paid $58.10 for two persons<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
