\"MontanaMontana Brew Bar at Pomo is a small cafe that focuses on coffee and waffles, although there are also sandwiches and salads. For coffee, you can choose from\u00a0two\u00a0blends<\/strong>\u00a0and two single-origin<\/strong>\u00a0(Costa Rica San Guillermo and Ethiopian Yigacheffe). Besides the normal types of coffee (from $3.50 onwards), they also serve Australian-styled pourover<\/strong><\/a> ($5.20) and aeropress<\/strong><\/a> ($5.20), both of which were fruity. My\u00a0flat white<\/strong>\u00a0was mineral, and ended with a slight burnt aftertaste–not bad.

\"Montana<\/p>\n

\"MontanaMontana serves both sweet and savory waffles, ranging from $9.50-$10.50. \u00a0There are some smart innovations here. The waffles mix was balanced so that it could pair, not clash, with both the sweet or\u00a0savory. It was crispy, but the inside could be fluffier.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Montana<\/p>\n

\"MontanaIn general, I preferred the savory waffles to the sweet. The\u00a0mac-and-cheese waffle<\/strong>, dusted with white truffle powder, was a crowdpleaser, but I preferred the\u00a0Southern chicken waffle sandwich\u00a0<\/strong>with wasabi coleslaw–because it had protein, and better mouthfeel, and made a more balanced meal–and frittata waffle\u00a0<\/b>with truffle mushroom spheres because I like eggs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"MontanaThe sweet waffles, however, required some improvement. The chocolate banana waffle<\/strong>, sprinkled\u00a0with nutella truffle\u00a0powder, tasted artificial; the\u00a0suzette waffle<\/strong> was too sour; the\u00a0red velvet stack<\/strong>\u00a0didn’t taste like red velvet, and should be renamed bandung stack (rose syrup), and if it is a bandung stack, then I’d like it. My favorite was the matcha waffle<\/strong> with spheres of passionfruit, which left a tea-bitter aftertaste at the back of my throat, something a tea-lover will relish.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"MontanaThe week-old cafe is still tweaking its recipes, asking feedback from its customers, removing some items from the menu, adding other dishes on it. Its sincerity shows in listening to feedback. Besides, the coffee and waffles are more pocket-friendly compared to other cafes, making Montana a great place for students and a quick lunch.<\/span><\/p>\n
