\"AEIOUI was toying of titling this entry \u201cWho wants to buy a vowel?\u201d but the above one may be catchier. There is magic in the caf\u00e9, full of knickknacks from the past. We felt as if transported to another time. William asked, \u201cIs the owner a karang guni?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"AEIOUAvocado Coffee ($8)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

When we settled down, a waft of sewage stench assaulted us. The drainage was having problem at the back, but they couldn\u2019t close the backdoor because air had to ventilate in the caf\u00e9. Air has to circulate because there is no air-con. At least the caf\u00e9 is environmentally friendly.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"AEIOU\u201cThe air smells really foul,\u201d William groused.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meng replied, \u201cJust take 3 deep breaths, and then you\u2019ll get used to the smell.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"AEIOUBut the food was good. The whole chicken\u00a0<\/strong>($22.90), baked a la minute, was worth the buck, and can be shared between 2 or 3 people. And it was delicious, juicy and tender. However, the Moolicious\u00a0beef cheeks pasta<\/strong>\u00a0($24.90) was complicated. We thought it would be savory, but it turned out sweet. The pasta tasted like char kway teow, and the beef cheeks like sweet-vinegar ribs \u7cd6\u918b\u6392\u9aa8. What a strange pasta, sweet and sour.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"AEIOUThe cakes are baked in-house, and there is no waffle in the caf\u00e9\u2014good decision! The avocado cheesecake<\/strong>\u00a0($6.50) wasn\u2019t bad, but crumbly.<\/span><\/p>\n

As caf\u00e9 culture in Singapore matures, the standard rises. And AEIOU is a result of the high standards. It is lovable, and magical, and every tiny detail is well-considered. I like this cafe, and opine it as one of the better cafes<\/a>\u00a0to open this year. We three persons paid about $62 or $64\u00a0<\/strong>(I lost the receipt).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
