\"kay Established since 1970s, Kay Lee Roast Meat<\/a> was looking for a buyer for their recipes at $3.5 million some time back. A major company has acquired Kay Lee, and set up 4 branches now.<\/p>\n

\"kaySince the acquisition, the direction of Kay Lee has changed. No longer a kopitiam style. The new company seems to remodel Kay Lee after Crystal Jade. There is wine on the menu, along with finger food. And there is a whole lot of other food.<\/p>\n

\"kayI don’t think this concept works because the other dishes aren’t good. The wanton noodles<\/strong>, the popcorn chicken with wasabi dip<\/strong>, and the salted veg soup<\/strong> are just so.<\/p>\n

\"kayLuckily, the standard of the roast meats is similar to the last time we visited the kopitiam<\/a>. The char siew<\/strong> is definitely the showpiece, very fat, very char, and very sweet; if you like heavily flavored greasy food, you’ve found your soulmate. The duck<\/strong> is dry, and the crackling of sio bak<\/strong> is too hard.<\/p>\n

\"kayThe service<\/strong> was fantastic, probably because there were only 3 tables around. But the restaurant concept isn’t working for Kay Lee, because people only want to eat the roast meats. The company should have set up stalls in food courts.<\/p>\n
