\"img_1499\"Punggol has an exciting new dining\u00a0enclave with 7 cargo containers in a row! Very cute and cool! Each container houses a f&b concept: Pump Station 1965<\/strong><\/a> (bar), \u00a0Boost @ Banks<\/strong> (bar), Leung Kee Healthy Dessert<\/strong>\u00a0(Chinese desserts), Big Fish Small Fish<\/strong> (fish and chips), Seoul Good<\/strong><\/a> (bingsu and fried chicken), L’Chiam Bistro<\/strong> (bar and Peranakan food), D’grill\u00a0<\/strong>(pastas and seafood cze char). Wow, 3 out of 7 are bars; Punggol people drink a lot. #nojudgement<\/p>\n

Many of them use a computerized self-ordering system. (Gossip: Do you know Singapore government is encouraging f&b establishments to use\u00a0robots and computerized system to solve the labor crunch issue?)<\/p>\n

\"img_1481\"When I went, only 2-3 restaurants were opened and I settled for “Big Fish Small Fish.” And their computers weren’t working. Haha.<\/p>\n

BFSF reminds me of the fish and chips shops in Australia<\/a>. You select the type of fish, from the cheapest\u00a0dory<\/strong> ($6.90) to the most expensive,\u00a0fresh red snapper<\/strong> ($15.90). The fish\u00a0comes with chips. You have a choice of\u00a0tartar sauce<\/strong>, or\u00a0mozzarella cheese dip<\/strong>\u00a0(that stretches), or homemade\u00a0XO mayo <\/strong>(basically something like Lee Kum Kee XO sauce + mayo).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"img_1492\"I ordered one of my favorite fish,\u00a0sea bass<\/strong> ($9.90), and it is delicious. The crust is thin and crispy, the fish is fresh and moist. I appreciate that they slice potatoes freshly to make the chips (not the supermarket pre-packed type with lots of chemicals) but some of the slices are not crispy. The spicy XO sauce adds a bit of excitement to the fish.<\/p>\n

\"img_1494\"It’s very cute that they have holes in the table you can put your fish and chips or paper\u00a0cups. Speaking about drinks, they don’t serve free water, which is a demerit point for them. \u00a0Speaking about demerit points, the fish serving is small.<\/p>\n

\"img_1489\"Besides fish and chips, they also have sides like\u00a0coleslaw\u00a0<\/strong>($3.90),\u00a0potato salad\u00a0<\/strong>($4.90),\u00a0xo shrimp<\/strong> ($7.90). I ordered the\u00a0salted egg calamari with bonito flakes<\/strong> ($7.90). The bonito flakes add a nice dimension but I can’t really taste the salted egg yolk and the squid is too tough. I chewed on\u00a0a piece which was\u00a0more durable than diamond; it was unbreakable.<\/p>\n

\"img_1487\"For desserts, they have churros and I got the\u00a0ondeh churros<\/strong> ($6.50). It doesn’t have the ondeh ondeh taste. Perhaps they should roll the churros over some dry coconut flakes and gula melaka sugar.<\/p>\n

Next time, I’ll stick to the fish and chips, which is pretty decent, and maybe get a coleslaw. I was alone and\u00a0paid $27<\/strong> but there is food enough for 2 persons.<\/p>\n

How to Get to Punggol Cargo Containers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you know Punggol East Park? Or Tebing Lane? It is where Popeyes is. The row of cargo containers are just beside Popeyes. If you’re driving, no problem, just turn into Tebing Lane.<\/p>\n

If you’re taking LRT, there is a shortcut. Drop off at Riviera LRT<\/strong>. Just beside the tiny stadium, there is a drain. Walk straight down and you’ll reach the containers in 2-3 minutes.<\/p>\n
