DAY 6: SAPPORO ITINERARY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

9.30 a.m.<\/strong> Check out of your Otaru hotel, breakfast at Sankaku Fish Market, <\/strong>and take the JR train to Sapporo (an hour’s journey, about\u00a0\u00a5640, S$8). At the JR station in Otaru, you can buy the Kitaca card<\/strong> (see previous entry on “How to Get Around in Sapporo”<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\"\"11.30 a.m.<\/strong> Leave your luggage at your Sapporo hotel and make your way to Sapporo Beer Museum<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>where you can sample \u201cFukkoku Sapporo Bakushu\u201d, a unique beer brewed according to the methods used back in 1881. There is also a buffet beer garden\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>beside the museum, serving\u00a0Jingisukan (\u201cGenghis Khan\u201d BBQ).<\/p>\n

\"\"Beer hall inside the beer museum <\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"If you’re not in the mood for bbq mutton and beer for lunch, go to the shopping mall, Ario Sapporo<\/strong>, beside the beer museum. Shop and eat here.<\/p>\n

3 p.m.<\/strong>: Return to the hotel and take a short nap.<\/p>\n

4 p.m.<\/strong>: Shop around Sapporo JR Station<\/strong> where all the huge shopping malls are:\u00a0Esta, Daimaru, Sapporo Stellar Place, PASEO, and an underground shopping mall,\u00a0Apia. If you want, you can visit the\u00a0Deck T38 at the JR Tower<\/a>\u00a0for a fee.<\/p>\n

\"\"For dinner, go to ESTA 10th floor<\/strong> which houses\u00a0Sapporo Ramen Republic (Sapporo Ramen Kyowakoku)<\/strong>, a selection of 8 top ramen restaurants in Sapporo. If you don’t want ramen, there are other famous chains<\/a> on the same floor, chains such as Shisen Hanten (which receives Michelin star in Singapore<\/a> but it came from Japan) and Fugetsu okonomiyaki<\/a> (which opens an outlet in Suntec Singapore recently). There is also Rakkyo soup curry<\/a>, which had a long queue.<\/p>\n

\"\"We ate Tonkatsu Tamafuji<\/strong> which is not bad, and the service is phenomenal.<\/p>\n

NEXT DAY:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"9.30 a.m.<\/strong>: For breakfast, make your way to either\u00a0Nijo Fish Market <\/strong><\/a>\u4e8c\u6761\u5e02\u5834<\/strong><\/a> or\u00a0S<\/a>apporo Central Wholesale Market Curb Market<\/strong><\/a>. The former is more convenient and historical, thus attracting more tourist; whereas the latter is\u00a0biggest wholesale market\u00a0in Hokkaido with a bathhouse. I recommend Nijo Fish Market because the food is cheaper and you get to walk past\u00a0Odori Park\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>which houses the Sapporo TV Tower\u00a0<\/strong>(pictured below).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"11.30 a.m.<\/strong>: Leave the market and make your way to Shiroi Koibito Park<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(pictured above) also known to Singaporeans as the immensely popular \u767d\u8272\u604b\u4eba<\/strong>. You need to make an online reservation first if you want to design your own cookies at the Cookie Craft Studio<\/strong> in the park. There is also a cafe here where you can have your lunch.<\/p>\n

\"\"2.30 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0Make your way to\u00a0Fushimi Inari Shrine<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(pictured above). It’s really nothing to see at the shrine but it’s a photoshoot location and it’s on the way to Mount Moiwa<\/a><\/strong>. So after the visit to the shrine, climb a short hill up to the Mount Moiwa Ropeway to take the cable car.<\/p>\n

\"\"Alternatively, if you want to skip the shrine and go directly to Mount Moiwa, there is a\u00a0free shuttle bus<\/strong>. Take the free bus from Ropeway Iriguchi tram stop<\/strong>. The tram is very fun: it’s those old-fashioned kind with electric rail embedded in the road. (The actual shuttle bus stop is about 20m from this tram stop.)<\/p>\n

\"\"Lovers can bring a lock up to Mount Moiwa. <\/em><\/p>\n

6 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong>After you have seen the sunset and the night scene from Mount Moiwa, take the free shuttle bus down to Ropeway Iroguchi tram stop. <\/strong>Here is your chance to ride the tram if you haven’t previously. Take the tram to\u00a0Susukino<\/strong>\u00a0(\u3059\u3059\u304d\u306e), which is a\u00a0red-light district, and walk around.<\/p>\n

\"\"There are many restaurants here but we recommend the yakiniku restaurant Hormone Ginga\u00a0\u30db\u30eb\u30e2\u30f3 \u9280\u7259<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(which requires reservations) or\u00a0Ramen Alley <\/strong>(we had Ramen Shingetsu).<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"After dinner, shop at Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade<\/strong><\/a>. There are many shops here, including Don Quijote<\/strong>, also known to Singaporeans as Don Don Donki.<\/p>\n

NEXT DAY:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Option A: Check out of your hotel and shop at\u00a0Mitsui Outlet Mall Park<\/strong><\/a> and fly home in the evening.<\/p>\n

Option B: Shop at\u00a0Mitsui Outlet Mall<\/strong>. Return home the next day.<\/p>\n
