Yotel Singapore Orchard Road <\/strong>(starting from about $180++ on weekdays and about $250++ on weekends) is a busy city hotel, so when you check in and out, you may have to wait a short while during peak hours.<\/p>\n

Room overview<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The rooms start from 16 sqm, rather small but not as small as Japanese rooms. It is worth getting the Premium Queen View room<\/strong> (one step up from their standard room) just to have a bird’s-eye view of Singapore.<\/p>\n

Adjustable bed using memory foam<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A table opens up below the table where there are USB ports for charging phones. Also: umbrella and ironing board.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Although the room is cosy, I adore the smart and innovative design of the room. New BTO owners can come here and be inspired.<\/p>\n

Corner 1: kettle, tea, safe, bar fridge, a foldable chair which can also be used to place luggage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Each corner of the room is equipped with amenities that you can find in 5-star hotels. Almost everything except for bathrobes.<\/p>\n

There are many things I like about the room, but perhaps the best feature is the ceiling-to-floor glass panel in the bathroom, giving a panoramic view of Singapore.<\/p>\n

I’m sorry the photo here doesn’t do the bathroom an iota of justice, but if you are there in real person, the view is quite spectacular and uplifting.<\/p>\n

Facilities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Swimming pool (just beside the restaurant Komyuniti)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

All facilities (restaurant, gym, pool) are found on the 10th floor of the hotel.<\/p>\n

I swim often in public pools (which are dirty, the last time I swam at Bishan pool, I got sick) so I relish swimming in hotel pools which are generally clean.<\/p>\n

However, this pool, while picturesque, needs maintenance. The water tasted like sweat. I stepped in and stepped out immediately.<\/p>\n

Maybe there should be signs to tell people to shower before stepping into the pool. I know it’s basic hygiene but not everyone does it.<\/p>\n

In case aliens come to earth and don’t know what this room, full of torture instruments, is for, Yotel spells out GYM in the ceiling lights.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the other hand, the gym is great. Many new equipment.<\/p>\n

There is still much space in the gym. I’d suggest getting a barbell rack and a power rack to complete it.<\/p>\n

Breakfast at Komyuniti. Love the “clouds.”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Breakfast is at Komyuniti which is also a coworking space and a nice bar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There aren’t many items for the breakfast buffet–but there is a live station for eggs–and the restaurant is packed!<\/p>\n

Lazy to make multiple trips, so piled all the food on one dish. LOL.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Although the selection isn’t extensive, the food is done excellently. Had a delicious, satisfying meal.<\/p>\n

On the whole, if you’re a tourist, I would highly recommend the hotel. It’s right in the heart of the shopping district and is affordable to stay a few days. I noticed many Thais and Indonesians staying here. Sawadee! Southeast Asians know a good deal when they see one.<\/p>\n

If you’re Singaporean and like to imagine you’re Fann Wong walking down from her Orchard penthouse, then this is for you. I had a great time pretending to be rich. The staycation gave me the courage to step into Cortina Watch that day. LOL.<\/p>\n

Pros<\/strong>:
\n-near Orchard MRT
\n-Love the location! Right at the heart of Singapore
\n-affordable
\n-compact but equipped with many amenities
\n-breakfast items are limited but done excellently
\n-Nice gym
\n-fast wifi<\/p>\n

Cons<\/strong>:
\n-swimming pool’s water needs to be changed more regularly<\/p>\n
