\"\"On the surface, Aetas Bangkok appears to be atas (fancy). It is located at a central area (Sukhumvit) and just opposite Conrad Bangkok<\/a>. It is near BTS Sky Train (Phloen Chit Station: Exit 4), which is just two stations away from Siam Station where Paragon is.<\/p>\n

But the similarities with Conrad end there.<\/p>\n

Unlike Conrad which allowed us a very early check-in, we arrived at Aetas at an appropriate time, 2pm. The room was not ready yet and the receptionist told us to wait for 15 minutes, and she would come to us when the room was ready.<\/p>\n

Ok, didn’t mind waiting. But 30 minutes passed and she did not come to us. So we returned to the reception. Apparently, the room was ready but she forgot.<\/p>\n

And at the moment, she passed us welcome drink vouchers and wifi password. She could have given us the voucher so that we could go to the restaurant to have a drink while waiting; and could have given us the wifi password so that we could use our phones while waiting.<\/p>\n

We got the entry-level room, i.e, the cheapest Superior Room<\/strong>; we paid about 2880 baht<\/strong> (S$130) a night. Very, very good pricing for the location.<\/p>\n

The room itself appears rather nice on first glance but when you look deeper, the finishing is cheap and it is not functional. Appearance wise, it is tired but at least there is some maintenance to the room.<\/p>\n

Not functional, for example, the bed. It looks nice but it is so hard that I couldn’t sleep. The quality of the bed is really not great.<\/p>\n

Another example of the room not being functional is the bathroom. It is sexy. There is a glass panel between the toilet and the room so you can lie in the tub to watch tv. But…<\/p>\n

My partner and I nearly slipped a few times. The tiles are way too slippery. I am positive that many people have slipped before, especially old folks and children.<\/p>\n

My partner broke out in hives after using the bathtub. Not sure if the bathtub wasn’t cleaned properly or they use a harsh cleaning agent.<\/p>\n

As for amenities in the room, they do have the usual amenities: complimentary wifi, kettle, safe, etc. (There is no bath robe.) But again, as usual, the safe is not functional: there is no instruction on how to use it.<\/p>\n

They have a pool and a small gym but we did not use them.<\/p>\n

Pros:<\/p>\n

– Provides free tuk-tuk shuttle to BTS Phloen Chit Station (Exit 4).<\/p>\n

– Central location<\/p>\n

Cons:<\/p>\n

– Bathroom is super slippery. My partner and I nearly slipped a couple of times. It’s not suitable for small children and old folks.<\/p>\n

-bed is so rock hard that I couldn’t sleep.<\/p>\n
