Hotel Mercure Warszawa Grand Lobby (Right side)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There are two Mercure in Warsaw, Poland: Hotel Mercure Warszawa Grand<\/strong> and Hotel Mercure Warszawa Centrum<\/strong><\/a>. We stayed at the former.<\/p>\n

Location-wise, they are near to each other. Centrum is just beside Zlote Tarasy<\/strong>, the largest shopping center in Warsaw, whereas Grand is about 15-minute walk from the mall.<\/p>\n

Another difference is that Grand is newer.<\/p>\n

Grand is about 30-minute car ride from the airport and a 10-minute car ride from Old Town, the number 1 attraction in Warsaw. A 10-minute Uber ride is about 10zloty (US$2.60 or S$3.50). So it is quite affordable.<\/p>\n

The lobby is really cool and ecletic, with four different designs and spaces for you to relax.<\/p>\n

To be honest, I was expecting the room to be bigger. Poland has so much space, right? But it’s not big. They don’t have bathtubs (I stayed in 5-6 hotels in Poland, all without bathtubs, but I bought my bath bombs!)<\/p>\n

Although no bathtub, the room is rather cozy. I know sometimes people use “cozy” as a polite term for “small,” but in this case, I really mean “cozy” as in comfortable, gives a feeling of home and warmth.<\/p>\n

For any hotels, I want them to be (1) affordable, (2) central location, and (3) a good bed. This hotel passes muster for 2.5 of the criteria. The bed is a little hard, but then, still not the hardest hotel bed I’ve slept on<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The hotel has some amenities (bar fridge, safe, kettle, body wash, shampoo, etc) but it doesn’t have more personal toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, bathrobes, bath slippers. To be fair, most of the hotels I stayed at in Poland don’t provide them too.<\/p>\n

In any case, I called room service for toothbrush and toothpaste and they did give.<\/p>\n

Not sure why they have a see-through standing shower. People have see-through bathtubs so that they can watch tv in the room and soak in the bathtub, but not sure about the shower. Maybe it’s sexy? ;)<\/p>\n

For a newish hotel, the sockets aren’t beside the bed. No USB too. So it’s a little inconvenient to charge phones.<\/p>\n

As for facilities, there is a gym but no pool. Didn’t go to the gym. No judgement ok, I was tired. They also have a bar called Winestone and a restaurant generically named Grand’s Brasserie.<\/p>\n

I had their hotel breakfast. I honestly prefer breakfasts in hotels in Asia because the spread includes both Western and Asian selections. In Poland, the hotel breakfast only has Western selection.<\/p>\n

But I have to say, the food is pretty good. Sausages are great. It is a pleasant breakfast.<\/p>\n
