\"\"According to their Executive Chef Robert Chan, his team comprises of people from Asia, and so it is logical that they play to their strong suit to offer Asian street food with some innovation.<\/p>\n

\"\"Street food doesn’t mean cheap food, so you buffet-goers, just relax. The cold seafood selection remains. There are\u00a0sashimi,<\/em> prawns, mussels, slipper lobsters<\/strong>, and interestingly, they also serve the cold\u00a0Nanjing salt water duck\u00a0<\/strong>and also a rendition of the Hawaiian pok\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Talking about seafood, their famous chilli crab<\/strong> is still on the menu (for dinner only), although there are more interesting dishes around like the Vietnamese broken rice claypot porridge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I usually don’t like “sick people food,” but this porridge is bursting with flavours, cooked over charcoal fire with white clams, barramundi, and oysters. This is my favourite dish at Spice Brasserie.<\/p>\n

My second favourite dish is this Chinese pancake<\/strong> (it’s not popiah, ok!). It’s breakfast food in China and people can choose to put any filling in it. Ours has a little bit of spice and sweetness.<\/p>\n

Another area I like about this buffet is that it has a lot of fish done in different styles! It’s my favourite meat. Also: do you know some Europeans don’t consider fish a meat? So it’s like you’re eating vegetarian food.<\/p>\n

The fish here is done in Thai style<\/strong> (sweet and spicy sauce drizzled over fried fish); sashimi<\/strong>; pok\u00e9<\/strong>; grilled salt water barramundi<\/strong>; and Indian fish tikka<\/strong>. The best is the grilled barramundi (shown in the gif) because the skin is crisp and the flesh is thick and succulent.<\/p>\n

Why did I do a gif of it? Because I went back 4 times to check if it was available and each time, people got there before me. So I only ate it once. Now I miss it.<\/p>\n

Talking about grilled food, the restaurant uses a custom-made charcoal grill using the Japanese\u00a0Robatayaki\u00a0<\/em>style<\/strong>. Their black char siew<\/strong> is thus slow-grilled. (They also have some yakitori<\/strong> sticks.)<\/p>\n

Another of their strength lies in their tandoori<\/strong> items. They have their own tandoor oven. Try their\u00a0squid-ink naan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Other highlights include\u00a0Asian salad bar<\/strong>, black pepper\u00a0slipper lobster<\/strong> (for dinner only), and Korean fried chicken<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Their desserts are good too. They have\u00a0teppanyaki ice cream<\/strong> (passionfruit mango<\/strong> and matcha red bean<\/strong>),\u00a0mua chee<\/strong>,\u00a0chempedak jackfruit cake<\/strong>,\u00a0rum ball<\/strong>,\u00a0durian pengat<\/strong>, Peranakan kuehs<\/strong>, and a satisfying\u00a0waffle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although the buffet selection isn’t extensive, the quality is good, the price is affordable, and–well, my favourite fish is barramundi–they have barramundi on the menu. At this price range, this buffet has to be one of the better buffets around.<\/p>\n
