How to get to Mr J French-Italian Restaurant II (Mr.J\u00a0<\/em>\u7fa9\u6cd5\u5eda\u623f<\/em>II)<\/em>
\nIt\u2019s really easy to get here. Take the train to Taipei City Hall, Exit 2, take escalator up to ground level, turn right and you will see many shuttle bus stops. The shuttle bus to Taipei Medical University is next to the shuttle bus stop to Taipei 101. There is a shuttle bus every 15 minutes from 7am-7pm. Once you alight from the shuttle bus, walk to the right of the main building entrance (Taipei Hospital) towards the Library and you will see Mr J\u2019s restaurant! It is in a circularish glass building.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jay Chou\u2019s restaurant was part of our itinerary cos Jay Chou (\u5468\u6770\u4f26) is legendary. I love\u8bf4\u597d\u7684\u5e78\u798fMV cos Angelababy is in it! Angelababy is so pretty. Back to reviewing the restaurant, we had such a hard time getting there because we\u2019ve only gotten instructions online to take the shuttle bus. But what happens after that?! We got off the shuttle bus, went straight into the Hospital and asked for directions. Most of the people didn\u2019t know where it was and we were like HUH? It\u2019s Jay Chou\u2019s restaurant. How can the locals not know?<\/p>\n

But anyhows, we managed to find our way there. The restaurant theme is based on his movie, The Secret. There is a lot of Jay\u2019s memorabilia in the restaurant \u2013 awards, guitar etc. Some of his awards are showcased at the front of the restaurant and there was a huge Transformer head hanging from the ceiling.<\/p>\n

They served us ice water promptly after we sat down. Impressed! There are different combinations of set meals for different prices. I ordered the set that comes with soup-of-the-day, garlic bread\/salad and a drink. Simply top up NT$59 to your main dish. Value for money!<\/p>\n

THE GARLIC BREAD IS AWESOME. Easily the best dish and we wished it was FREE FLOW. Why is it not free flow? Crispy & toasted to perfection. Very buttery with just the right amount of garlic-ness.<\/p>\n

The soup of the day was Creamy Vegetable and it came with a piece of toasted crouton. It was pretty awesome!<\/p>\n

We ordered pastas for our mains. Just go with the Creamy Ham & Mushroom Fettucine. The Creamy Chicken Penne has some weird vegetables that tasted like curry leaves and it kinda spoilt the dish.<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t get our drinks midway through the meal. In Singapore, they always serve the drinks first (kinda). So, we asked a male server for our drinks in mandarin,<\/p>\n

Us<\/strong>:\u00a0\u6211\u4eec\u53eb\u7684\u6c34\u8fd8\u6ca1\u6765\u3002(Our drinks haven’t arrived.)
\nHe<\/strong>:\u00a0\u4f60\u4eec\u7684\u6c34\u5728\u684c\u4e0a\uff0c\u6709\u4ec0\u4e48\u95ee\u9898\u5417? (Your water is on the table, is there any problem?) *in a very nonchalant tone*<\/p>\n

We were taken aback by his attitude and we thought we had made a mistake. Maybe our set doesn\u2019t come with a drink? Maybe the waitress who took down our orders didn\u2019t write it down? It turned out that they only serve drinks after you finish your main course. I thought the service was ok and probably by Taiwan\u2019s standards, it could be considered bad. Firstly, we didn\u2019t feel very welcomed when we stepped in as the servers didn\u2019t smile or greet us, which was OK. But the male server incident was unforgiveable. Come to think of it, it was very rude of him! Duh! Of course we know we have 2 glasses of water on our table but we wanted the drinks that we ordered! Did he think that we are idiots? Grr..<\/p>\n

Most diners are tourists and you can see many excited Jay\u2019s fans posing with the grand piano and his posters. Nice ambience and surprisingly good food at very affordable pricings. We paid about S$15\/pax. Awesome except service needs to be improved.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Agnes B Cafe<\/strong>

\nTaipei City Hall Station, take escalator up to Breeze Center (<\/em>\u5fae\u98a8\u5ee3\u5834<\/em>)<\/em><\/p>\n

Since there\u2019s no Agnes B Caf\u00e9 in Singapore, we got pretty excited when we saw the caf\u00e9 on the store directory. It was raining and we were freezing. It was the perfect weather for a warm latte.<\/p>\n

\nLatte<\/em>\u62ff\u94c1\u5496\u5561<\/em>NT$120.\u00a0<\/em>Ice Vanilla Hazelnut Caramel Cappuccino (NT$155) & Hazelnut Chocolate Cake also known as Chloe (NT$120)<\/em><\/p>\n

Drinks were OK. Chloe was disappointing because it\u2019s like some lao-hong dry biscuit instead of a cake.<\/p>\n

Shilin Night Market (<\/span><\/strong>\u58eb\u6797\u591c\u5e02)<\/span><\/strong>
\nTake metro to Jiantan station. Shilin Night Market is split into 2 areas \u2013 Food & Shopping. Shilin Night Market(Food) is just opposite the metro station. For Shopping, the market is diagonally across from Jiantan station.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hao Da Chicken Cutlet or Hot Star Large Fried Chicken (<\/strong>\u8c6a\u5927\u5927\u9e21\u6392)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u8c6a\u5927\u5927\u9e21\u6392stall is at the 1st row with blue signboard, facing the metro station and you definitely won\u2019t miss it. We were quite confused as there were 2 stalls with the same name along the same row. However, go to the one with the queue or with a guy giving out plastic bags to put your Large Fried Chicken in. It\u2019s NT$55. The other stall is selling at NT$45. No idea what\u2019s the difference! Remember, when it\u2019s your turn, just tell the uncle whether you want it spicy or non-spicy. He will put the chicken in the paper wrapper and put it your plastic bag. It\u2019s a fuss-free process. Thumbs up for efficiency! The portion is huge so just order 1 to share! There were bones in our Chicken and the chicken was quite dry. Maybe we came on a wrong day. Bummer.<\/p>\n
