I stayed at <a href=\"https:\/\/robertsonquay.intercontinental.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay<\/strong><\/a> for two nights, and that quieter rhythm ended up being one of the best parts of the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not the InterContinental I would choose for a large room or grand lobby. I would choose it when I wanted Singapore to become quieter after I came back for the night.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One-Line Verdict:<\/strong> InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is a calm, well-run riverside hotel with excellent service and a very good breakfast, but its 24 sqm King room asks for more compromise than the InterContinental name suggests.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reception Starts Four Floors Up<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/2-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Modern glass entrance to InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, with a doorman, silver luggage carts, gray stone paving, and a calm, upscale feel.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first slightly unusual thing is that <strong>reception is on Level 4 rather than at street level<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I entered downstairs, took the lift up and checked in there. It felt odd once. By the next morning, it was simply how the building worked.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check-in itself was straightforward. Staff explained what I needed without keeping me at the desk unnecessarily, and the hotel already felt calmer than several larger properties I had moved through recently.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The concierge was more useful. I had several stops to make that day and asked for the most sensible order. Instead of handing me a map, she helped arrange the route so I was not crossing the same part of the city twice.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the kind of hotel service I remember.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Room Is Organised, Not Spacious<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/3-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Modern hotel bedroom with a king bed, leather lounge chair, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking city apartments; warm wood and sleek finishes create a calm, upscale feel.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My King room faced the river and measured 24 sqm.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was a king bed, walk-in shower, Nespresso machine, artisanal tea, Bluetooth speaker, bottled water, bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom toiletries were by Byredo, which was a nicer touch than the anonymous bottles still common in many hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With one medium suitcase, the room worked. Once I opened it fully, however, the circulation became noticeably tighter.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The design uses the space intelligently. Floor-to-ceiling glass brings in plenty of daylight, storage is integrated neatly and the river view prevents the room from feeling boxed in.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But <strong>good design does not create additional floor area<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bed was comfortable and both nights were quiet. Air-conditioning remained stable, blackout worked properly, and I had enough desk space to answer emails without relocating downstairs.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The room is not generous. It is organised. Those are different compliments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breakfast Was Better Than I Expected<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/4-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"A generous hotel buffet displays sliced meats, fresh greens, salads, sauces, and side dishes on dark platters, creating a warm, inviting dining scene.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Breakfast is at <strong>Publico Ristorante &amp; Garden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I went early on the first morning and closer to 9am on the second which gave me two rather different versions of the same breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The buffet had <strong>streaky bacon, chicken sausages, roasted mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes with Parmesan, cold cuts, cheeses, smoked salmon, fruit, yogurt and the usual pastries<\/strong>. Eggs were cooked to order, and there were local options including congee and laksa.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>laksa was the best thing I ate at breakfast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bowl came with noodles, prawns, egg, beancurd, laksa leaves and sambal. The broth was properly hot, rich with coconut and spicy enough that it did not taste like a timid hotel version. I had it again the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also liked being able to order eggs and add smoked salmon rather than constructing one of those enormous buffet plates that makes breakfast feel like work.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The difference after 9am was coffee. Drinks took noticeably longer once the restaurant filled, and my coffee arrived after I had already made decent progress through breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The food operation held together much better than the drinks service.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The River Is More Useful Than Another Hotel Facility<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/5-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Modern glass office building framed by leafy trees beside a green canal and stone embankment; a quiet, landscaped urban setting in warm daylight.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The location is probably the main reason I would return.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robertson Quay has restaurants immediately around the hotel, and the riverside path gives you an easy route towards Clarke Quay and further into town without walking beside traffic the entire way.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also borrowed one of the hotel\u2019s complimentary Tokyo Bikes for a short ride along the river. They are subject to availability, but this is the sort of hotel amenity I actually use rather than simply notice on a facilities list.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The compromise is transport. There are MRT stations within walking distance, but none sits directly beneath the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was fine with me. With luggage in heavy rain, I would take a car.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Pool and Gym Are Enough<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/6-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"A long blue swimming pool runs between a modern glass-and-steel building and a tall dark privacy wall, beneath an overcast sky, creating a calm urban retreat.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>outdoor lap pool sits on Level 4.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I used it before breakfast for a short swim. It was quiet, towels and water were available, and it did exactly what I needed.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is <strong>not a destination pool.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gym is similarly functional rather than impressive, with Technogym equipment and enough for a normal workout. I would not choose the hotel for either facility, but I also did not find either lacking for a two-night stay.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Room Service Was Better Than the Front Desk<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/7-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Modern hotel suite with a white bed and stone bench opening to a sleek bathroom with a vanity, mirror, warm wood cabinetry, and glass shower.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I ordered in-room dining one evening because I had reached the point where going downstairs for dinner felt unnecessarily ambitious.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The order arrived properly presented and still hot, and the staff handling it were warm and attentive without lingering in the room.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That interaction stood out because the front-desk service, while perfectly competent, felt more procedural.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The concierge and in-room dining teams felt more personal.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this level, those differences are small. They are also exactly what I notice.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who I Would Recommend It To<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/8-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"A modern hotel lobby with polished stone floors, tall marble walls, dark columns, and lounge seating under warm lamps; the spacious setting feels calm and upscale.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would choose this hotel for a solo business trip, a couple wanting quieter evenings, or a repeat Singapore visitor who no longer needs Marina Bay outside the lift doors.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would hesitate if travelling with several large suitcases, if generous room size is central to your idea of luxury, or if immediate MRT access matters more than the riverside setting.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It occupies a useful place in our <a href=\"https:\/\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/zh\/2026\/02\/13\/best-hotels-in-singapore-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">best hotels in Singapore guide<\/a>: less grand than Singapore\u2019s major destination hotels, but much easier to retreat into.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Thoughts<\/h3>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"681\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/rubbisheatrubbishgrow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/9-InterContinental-Singapore-Robertson-Quay.webp?resize=1024%2C681&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"A refined hotel lounge with sofas and armchairs, warm table lamps, and potted plants before floor-to-ceiling windows; calm, inviting mood.\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would stay again.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because of the room size. Twenty-four square metres remains twenty-four square metres, however expensive the coffee machine.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would return for the quiet evenings, comfortable sleep, very good breakfast, useful concierge and the ability to step outside and walk beside the river instead of entering another mall.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is very little spectacle here, and I mean that as a compliment.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The room is the compromise.
