Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hun, Chinatown

Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hun is really in Chinatown. Or it could be the branch. I asked the Uncle who was wearing a Rolex if they shifted here from Holland V, and he said yes. But I passed by Holland V the other day, and the shop was still there. So confusing lah, all the war about the REAL Katong laksa spills over to Holland V fish bee hoon.
But yes, whenever I am in Chinatown, if I don’t have any cravings, this place is my by-default choice. Once I brought my friend here, she couldn’t stop slurping the soup and she’s the Princessy kind. It was the first time I saw her eat so hurriedly. The soup was so good she asked me to flirt with the waitress to get more soup. (Sorry, no refills.) The soup is really something. You can taste the XO but it wouldn’t get you drunk. The amount is just right for it not to taste bitter. The soup is good till the last drop – and then you will ask for more.
There are different sizes for the fish soup. The one you see in the photo is the smallest ($7). The fish meat itself had no taste but aiya, got soya sauce and chili lah.
No ambience to speak off. I remember at Holland Village, my friends and I swore that we would not return to the place because the service was atrocious. The boss could scold the customers. But here, the rolex-wearing uncle was all smiles and friendly.
