When they wrapped the Ma-Ti-Su for me, they were still hot! Buy 5 and you get a discount, about 8.50 ringgit only! Service was good; the girls were cheerfully bantering with MaoMao. So I brought back to Singapore to eat the next day and WOW! super delicious! So fresh and still crispy and yet at the same time, soft. The sweetness was just right. Then the next morning when I woke up, I found they were all gone!!! My dad singlemouthedly ate 4 pieces. And he’s not the glutton sort. I regretted not buying more. Now I can only dream of it. Life’s like that – full of regrets on hindsight.

Another local product you may want to buy is the gula melaka. It comes in three favors: gula melaka, pandan and durian. I bought this at a pasar malam. You’ve to put it in the fridge first for it to solidify a bit. It tasted so good, like a gluey sweet or a kueh. I bought two packets, 30 sweets, and I only ate 2. The rest mysteriously “disappeared”.

Note for Malacca travelers: Jalan Hang Jebat is also known as Jonkers St and Jalan Tan Cheng Lock is known as Heeren St, which is also their Chinatown.
