In our previous entry on DB Bistro Moderne, we tried the 3-course pre-performance set menu, which impressed us so much that we vowed to return to try the famous DB burger, touted to be the best burger in Singapore.

The 4 types of complimentary bread – choux, baguette, wheat, salted bagel–are already a meal by itself.

Are you ready for the Godzilla of burgers?

Visually scandalous due to its size, the DB Burger ($38++) is a minced Sirloin patty, stuffed with braised short ribs and foie gras, sandwiched between a parmesan bun. Over the top, indulgent and decadent. It is a little disappointing to find the patty cold and the burger, as a whole, is just what the description is. The ingredients don’t amalgamate to make the burger greater than the sum of its parts. Is it the best burger in Singapore? We can’t agree.

For desserts, the recommended dessert, clafoutis tout chocolat ($15++), is a warm flourless chocolate cake with chocolate sorbet and vanilla ice cream. It is good but boring.

Another freebie! Freebies really put us in a good mood. Lemon madeleines, warm from the oven! Marcel Proust, a French author, describes madeleine as ““a little shell of cake, so generously sensual beneath the piety of its stern pleating.” Simple to bake and it’s the simplicity that makes this sponge cake delightful.

Service:  Warm, friendly and water was filled constantly. No hiccups.

Six months after eating the burger, we still don’t have any craving to go back for the burgers although the food is decent, the ambience is relaxing, transporting you to another world, and the service is excellent. We’d suggest sticking to the set menus.

  1. That’s exactly what I’ve been hearing from all of my friends who’ve tried DB. Not that great afterall. I think it’s the celebrity chef’s name that’s throwing me off…all sheen and no substance.

    1. it was alright, you know, but it wasn’t impressive. Perhaps it’s a matter of expectations. I went with great expectations.

  2. Wanna try it t least once….especially CUT, Mozza….pics look good !

    1. try everything once – that’s our philosophy.
