If there is a proverb to describe Mad Nest, it is “jack of all trades but master of none.” The very long and confusing menu lists Italian, Japanese and Indian cuisine, all of which were competent but none was outstanding.

Sashimi Moriawasa

Butter Chicken
The three of us shared sashimi moriawasa (3 slices each of tuna, salmon and swordfish, $18), unagi kabayaki (grilled eel, $20), sukiyaki (Japanese hotpot, $15), butter chicken ($13) with naan ($2-$4 depending on your choice of stuffing), chili crab pasta (with soft-shell crab, $21), and ended with tiramisu ($10). Including alcoholic drinks we spent about $45 per person, rather affordable considering we ordered so much.

Chili Crab Pasta
While the food was so-so, the concept of the restaurant isn’t bad. Mad Nest is owned by the same owner of Mad Thai, just down the street. “Mad” means “Making a Difference,” and this place features art by local artists. This joint is good for large groups of friends and family who live nearby and want to chill out.
