2D1N Bandung Itinerary

You have to drive. So either rent a car or hire a driver. Use Google Maps on your smartphone to navigate. Most times, you don’t have to key in the full address, just the name of the place.

Day 1 Bandung Itinerary

10am. To avoid the infamous jam, start from Jakarta at 10am.

Kampung Daun Bandung
1pm.
Lunch at Kampung Daun (Jl. Sersan Bajuri, No.88–RR1 Bandung, West Java;  +6222-2787915 or +6222-2784572; 11am-11pm daily; facebook; twitter) a mock-traditional village at Bandung. (Menu here.) We arrived after a drizzle, and it was paradise. Incense curled towards the sky slowly, as slowly as light came onto a dawnless day. We spent 280K rp for two for average Indonesian food, but there was extreme privacy as we were given a hut. Children can ride horses here. Tip: it may get cold. Bring a light jacket.

Kampung Daun Bandung food
Food was so-so. Give the fried fish a miss – too hard and dry.

3pm: Check into your hotel. If you are staying at Padma Hotel, like we did, enjoy the view, and use the facilities for a while.

Pancious Paris Van Java review
6pm
: Shop and have dinner at Paris Van Java, a shopping village with chain restaurants. For desserts, we had Pancious (pictured above)a chain restaurant focussing on pancakes and crepe-cakes. You can also have drinks at Pizza e  Birra, which is under the Ismaya group.

Pancious bandung menu
Pancious’s desserts are huge and not bad, but expensive. 2 persons can share 1. Get the millecrepe, instead of pancakes.

Day 2 Bandung Itinerary

Option A – Early Bird Option B – A Relaxing Tour
8am. If your hotel doesn’t provide breakfast, go to Warung Kopi Purnama (22 Jalan Alkateri, Bandung 40111, +62 22 420 1841). It has been around for 3 generations. Besides the kopi (coffee), they are also famous for bubur ayam (chicken porridge) and sekba (garlic pork stew). 9 am. Breakfast. See Option A’s recommendation.
9am. Start driving to Kawah Putih, or White Crater, at South Bandung. On the way to Kawah Putih, you may want to drop by The Luxton Hotel Bandung for, I quote, “the best brownie in Indonesia.” Bring a light jacket. 10 am. Start driving to Mount Tangkuban Perhahu, a giant crater from an active volcano. Bring a light jacket.
11pm. Reach Kawah Putih. If you get bored, you can also visit Patengan Lakea 15-minute drive from Kawah Putih. Patengan Lake is in the vicinity of a tea plantation. Can buy tea. 10.45am. Reach Mount Tangkuban Perhahu.
11.30 am. Drive 30 minutes and reach Ciater Hot Spring by noon. You can take a dip. The hot spring is surrounded by a tea plantation, so you can buy tea.
12pm. Leave from the area back to the city center. Snack on the brownie.  1pm. Leave the area and return to city area.

stone cafe bandung review
View from Stone Cafe. Opt to sit in a pondok, traditional Indonesian hut.

2pm. Reach the city area and have a late lunch. The Stone Cafe (Jl. Rancakendal Luhur No. 5; 022 2500577, 480, 000 rp) sits on a hill, overlooking Bandung, but the food was expensive and so-so.

3.30-7.30pmFactory Outlet shopping.

Tomodachi steak bandung review
8pm
: If you like a romantic dinner with excellent steaks, check out Tomodachi the restaurant, not the cafe. Then drive back to Jakarta as and when you like.

Tomodachi bandung menu
Choose the steak, instead of the so-so Indonesian food at Tomodachi.

If you intend to stay for a longer time, look at Garden of Eden’s excellent 4D3N itinerary.
