Souper Sarnies is a tiny, lovely cafe with about 10 seats, serving sandwiches and soups. The owners come out with their own recipes, bake their own cakes, and make their own spread. The food is made from fresh, and quality ingredients. Their avocado spread is awesome: you can tell it’s homemade freshly from its grainy texture.

Coffee beans from Highlander: mild, mineral, and a sweet aftertaste.

B. L. A. T $10.90
In general, the food is heavy-handed: the bacon is very salty, and caramel, very sweet. And in general, I prefer heavy food. Like the viscous mushroom soup ($7.90), made daily, was salty, full of grainy mushroom–I loved it. The potato salad ($8.90), cut in big chucks with skin on, was lightly toss in homemade mayo, paired with salty bacon–addictive.

A good sandwich must be moist from the spread, but the toast remain crispy and dry, to create a contrast. And Souper Sarnies makes such sandwiches. I preferred the B.L.A.T ($10.90), toasted panini with bacon, lettuce, avocado spread, tomato, and homemade mayo, which had a sense of umami, almost an Asian flavor. The roast beef sirloin ($14.90), toasted sourdough with roast beef sirloin, caramelized onions, baby spinach, melted gruyere cheese, and truffle mayo, was too sweet for me; the onion overpowered the rest.

If you don’t want sandwiches, the egg benny ($14.90) comes with homemade hollandaise and toasted sourdough, which was just ok for me.

Between the salted caramel cheesecake ($4.90), and salted caramel buttermilk waffles ($12.90), I preferred the latter. Crispy with a fluffy core, not at all doughy, and the homemade salted caramel sauce went well with the buttermilk waffles without overpowering it. This was one of the best waffles I had.
I really love this cafe because the food has a rustic, homemade quality at an affordable price. Sincere max. Will return soon. Highly recommended.
