Dubai is a small place with a long stretch of expressway, north to south. If you drive, it will take no more than 30 minutes. In this “Hotels in Dubai” series, I’ll recommend three hotels, Pullman in the south, one in the north, and Sheraton in the middle. Sheraton is about being chic, and comfort.

There are many likeable factors about Sheraton: its location is perfect, near to the metro station, and connected to the Mall of the Emirates where Ski Dubai is in. Penguins, snow, and ski in the desert–imagine the extravagance.

The room has all the standard amenities. If you’re lucky to be in an even-numbered room like me, you can see the sunrise like an orange yolk.
My favorite feature of the room is the glass-paneled bathroom (with an electronic curtain). So you can soak in the bathtub to watch TV. It also looks very chic.
There is a good rooftop pool with two different heights, but when I swam there in the afternoon, I couldn’t take more than 20 minutes before I felt the burnt of the desert sun.

View from the gym

The rooftop gym has a fantastic view, and you can see Burj Al Arab, the 7-star hotel. It is also one of the best equipped hotel gym I’ve seen. I gymmed here, it was quiet, I love it.
There are two circumstantial details that are impossible to fix, but have caused some inconvenience. Firstly, when you take a taxi, the poorly designed roads force the taxi to go one big round. It’s like “I see my hotel, wait, why are we going past it?” You lose time and money on the transport.
Secondly, the check-in is on the 1st floor, and then you’ve to go to the 5th floor to transfer to another lift to go to the rooms. It may be troublesome and confusing for some people with no sense of direction.

What they can improve on is the breakfast buffet. It lacks both quality and quantity. After the first day of having the buffet, I couldn’t be bothered to wake up the next day for it.
Regardless, the stay was very enjoyable and the hotel has provided all the comforts one could possibly need.
