Many creative restaurants sacrifice taste for innovation. But Equatorial (📍60A Duxton Road), a pan Asian restaurant, knows the value of both. What I really appreciate about the restaurant is the inclusivity. They not only have Japanese and Korean flavours, which are what most pan Asian restaurants only have, but they also have Indonesian and Indian and Singaporean ones. They pay tribute and respect by researching into the cultural traditions behind each dish.
Some dishes we had:
🇨🇳🇮🇩 century egg with emping crackers
🇸🇬 seafood and melon salad
🇯🇵 madai sashimi
🇰🇷chirasu sashimi
🇮🇳🇯🇵 matcha curry chicken leg – this is my fav. Very well done. Chicken has awesome binchotan grilled crispy skin and super tender, moist flesh, all done by excellent cooking. ⭐️ must order⭐️
🇮🇩🇯🇵 rendang beef using a mixture of a4 and ms6 wagyu. While this is really spicy to me, I like that coz they don’t spoil the authenticity of it.
🇸🇬 kaya toast: they have a REAL egg in it. Really interesting dessert interpretation, at times savory, at times sweet. ⭐️ must order⭐️
🇸🇬 “ondeh ondeh” using grilled mochi and stout gula melaka.
