Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong is technically a new hotel. It opened in July 2026 after the former Genting Hotel Jurong received a refurbishment and a Marriott badge.
So technically, the building is not new. This becomes apparent once you notice the compact rooms and practical layout. Still, the refresh has produced a cleaner, more contemporary hotel than the property it replaced.
We stayed for two nights to answer the question that matters: does this hotel make sense if you are not already doing something in Jurong?
Mostly, no.
That is not necessarily a criticism.
Finding the Hotel Is the First Test
From Jurong East MRT, the hotel looks close enough on Google Maps. The actual walk is slightly less intuitive.
We followed the elevated walkways past the bus interchange, came down at the wrong side and spent a few minutes wondering whether the main entrance had been designed to avoid public transport users. It faces away from the most natural MRT approach.
Once we discovered the side entrance, everything became easier. The walk is manageable, but first-time guests arriving with luggage should allow around 10 minutes and a little patience.
The hotel is near Jurong East MRT in distance, though not always in spirit.
Check-in was quick and refreshingly free of theatre. No long speech about the property’s “journey”. No attempt to explain Jurong Lake District as though nobody had heard of Jurong before.
The staff were warm, efficient and consistently helpful throughout our stay. This was the hotel’s strongest quality. The building provides the hardware, but the team makes the stay feel less transactional.
The Room Is Small but Sensibly Planned
Our Deluxe room was clean, bright and functional.
There was a proper desk, charging points beside the bed, a small wardrobe and enough shelving to stop everything from accumulating on one chair. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning cooled the room quickly.
Then we opened the luggage.
One suitcase fitted comfortably. A second could be opened, but only after deciding which section of floor no longer needed to function. Two people can stay here without quarrelling. They simply need to cooperate.
The room is compact in an intelligent way, but intelligent compactness is still compactness.
The bathroom was similarly tight but workable. Water pressure was strong, drainage behaved itself and there was enough counter space for basic toiletries. We found no cleanliness issues, tired grout or strange smells. These sound like basic expectations until enough hotels fail them.
Honestly, the recent refurbishment gives it a cleaner, more contemporary appearance, but traces of the building’s previous life remain in the proportions. Marriott has refreshed the product. But it has not discovered additional floor area behind the wallpaper.
Breakfast Is Broad Rather Than Brilliant
Breakfast at Festive Café runs from 6am to 10am.
We visited once during a quieter period and again closer to the morning rush. The difference was noticeable. Tables filled quickly, the egg station developed a queue and the room became much louder once families and business groups arrived.
The buffet covered the usual range: eggs, pastries, fruit, cereal, noodles, rice, local hot dishes and Western breakfast staples. Replenishment was steady, and the staff cleared tables efficiently despite the crowd.
It is a competent hotel breakfast, not a reason to wake up excited.
Take breakfast when it is included in the room rate. Paying separately is harder to justify when JEM and Westgate offer many cheaper options within walking distance.
Festive Café also serves lunch and dinner, but the hotel has no room service. The restaurant closes at 9.30pm, so late-night hunger means walking to the malls, ordering delivery or examining the snacks you bought earlier with renewed respect.
This is useful to know before returning from Sentosa at night.
The Pool Is Smaller Than the Photographs Suggest
We visited the outdoor pool when it was nearly empty. In that moment, it worked: quiet, clean and suitable for a short swim.
Later, several families arrived and the same pool suddenly felt much smaller.
There are limited loungers and little reason to remain for hours. This is a city-hotel pool, not a resort facility. Come early if swimming matters to you.
The 24-hour gym is more practical. It has cardio equipment, free weights and enough room for a straightforward workout.
A self-service laundry is also available, which will matter more to business travellers staying for a week than to couples on a weekend staycation. Check the instructions and payment process before starting a wash rather than learning through financial experimentation.
Jurong Is Either the Point or the Problem
The hotel works very well for business around Jurong Gateway and International Business Park. It also suits families visiting Science Centre Singapore, Snow City or the western side of Singapore.
JEM, Westgate and IMM provide plenty of dining and shopping, while the free shuttle to Resorts World Sentosa adds genuine value for guests planning a Sentosa day.
It is less convincing for first-time tourists who intend to spend every day around Marina Bay, Orchard Road, Chinatown and the Civic District.
The MRT makes those journeys possible. Possible and convenient are not the same thing.

Final Verdict
Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong is not a destination hotel. Nobody should cross Singapore specifically to admire its swimming pool.
It is a well-run, practical hotel with helpful staff, clean rooms, a solid breakfast and a location that becomes highly convenient when the west is already part of the plan.
The base rooms are small. The route from the MRT could be clearer. Staying here for a Marina Bay holiday would involve a lot of train time and increasingly personal knowledge of the East-West Line.
But for business in Jurong, a western Singapore staycation or a family trip involving Science Centre and Sentosa, the hotel makes sense.
It does not need to pretend to be more glamorous than it is.
Competence is underrated.
