Initially curious that Hollywood China Bistro’s food was included in the tasting–after all, the restaurant is in Universal Studios and you’ve to pay admission–the PR suggested that it is for families who spend the day at the theme park and then end the day with a reunion dinner at the restaurant. What a wonderful idea to spend Chinese New Year eve!

The Cantonese 8-course Prosperity set menu is much more affordable than Feng Shui Inn’s, ranging from $68 for two to $338 for ten.
For the tasting, we only tried braised “pencai” in claypot ($188 for 4-6 people, $288 for 8-10), which has 11 ingredients such as fish maw, dried scallops, mussels, sea cucumber, abalone, etc. We thought it was so-so. Perhaps a longer cooking time could bring the ingredients together better, make the sauce sweeter, and allow the sauce to penetrate the ingredients.
Available 4-25 Feb 2013.
