It was hard to believe that Hombre Cantina is only 2 years old: the tables and chairs were weathered, cracked, and wobbly. “Hombre” in Spanish means “bro” or “dude.” “Cantina,” I guess, means “canteen”? So I suppose the “Canteen for Bros” is deserving of the decor.
The service was confusing. You have to order food at the counter, but you can order drinks from the wait staff. (But you still have to walk to the counter to pay for drinks.) Why not make this a full-service restaurant or a full-self-service restaurant?
The food was not disgusting, and menu is customizable for your meats, spiciness level, condiments. There were 5 of us, and we tried a variety (about $15 each): burrito, tacos, nachos, and quesadillas. Among the Mexican food I have had in Singapore, Hombre Cantina is my least favorite, but it wasn’t terrible. Just passable, forgettable, and boring.
We spent about $25 each.
