MOVED: Fat Saigon Boy, Ann Siang Road: Australian-Vietnamese Pho

MOVED: Fat Saigon Boy has moved to 51 Telok Ayer Street #01-02 Singapore 048441. Reservations here.

fat-saigon-boy-singaporeAny eatery with “Fat” in the name, I’m in. But if you want “authentic” Vietnamese food, Fat Saigon Boy at Ann Siang Road is not the place to go; the food is adjusted to local tastebuds. Which means to say it’s not bad at all.

For lunch, $13 ($13.90 with taxes) gives a main, a side, a drink. The beef pho broth is much too sweet and strong, and the sliced beef overcooked and of not very good quality. But as a whole, it’s palatable. Pork belly spring roll, as a side, is ok–love the nutty dip.

I wouldn’t rush to Fat Saigon Boy, but if I’m nearby and want broth-y non-hawker, I will be back.
