Nasi lemak ($14.90)

Bibik Violet is an affordable Peranakan cafe, sister of the restaurant National Kitchen by Violet Oon.

Laksa ($13.50)

They serve a variety of dishes from toasts ($3) to one dish meal to communal dinner. There’s something for single diners, groups, and families.

They also offer appetizers (they call it small plates) with items like satay ($14.50), ngoh hiang ($9) and kueh pie tee ($8.50)

For communal dining with friends and families, there are some Peranakan classics to go with rice like beef rendang ($19.80), chicken curry ($14.90) and chap chye ($8.50)

These classic dishes are perfect for a family feast, much like planning a large, traditional reunion dinner feast for the festive season.

I think that the cafe is a convenient place for a quick bite if you are craving for Peranakan food. But if you prefer something more refined and don’t mind paying a bit more, National Kitchen is a better option.
